Short Distance Crawling

Here's a montage of Jackson crawling over short distances, plus some bonus footage of an example of the all-fours stand he does from time to time. Yesterday he crawled from Mama and Daddy's bedroom to the office doorway!

Newsflash!

Jackson is now officially crawling! He has been very mobile and able to creep and swivel his way (quite quickly) from one end of the room to the other. But now he's definitely added a crawl to his repertoire. Go Jackson! Video soon.

Score! Jackson's Phone Stash

Jackson is obsessed with telephones. While Granma was here he destroyed another one of Mama's mobile phones!
So Sunday we went to the phone shop and the nice assistant gave Jackson 3 phones of his own (ex-display, non-electrical). So now he has FIVE phones of his own, including the two he drowned with his saliva.

Bon Voyage, Granma

Granma flew back to Melbourne yesterday. But before she went, Mama and Jackson took her out to Brighton Pier, where we had fish and chips, mushy peas, and bread and butter.

Then we went to the Sea Life Centre to see what fish look like when they are alive.

Then Jackson helped Granma with packing.

Thanks for a great time Granma! We will miss you!

Boy, You Know You Got A Panty On Your Head?

We're now in the last week of Brighton Festival: Daddy's busiest time of the year. In addition to producing Festival shows and a show in London, Daddy is co-producing Ireland's premiere "gender illusionist." The show's run starts tonight; best of luck getting the punters in to see Panti, Daddy!

Sunday Roast

We all had a roast lunch at the Edmund Kemp pub down the road in Kemp Town Village.

Jackson enjoyed trying free-range pork with Granma and Daddy, but he loved Mama's roast beef.

Lunch With Granma

On Thursday, Jackson and Mama had a nice lunch at the Gourmet Burger Kitchen in the North Laine with Granma. Jackson had some chips (fries) and some wild boar!

He was such a good boy, even though he had a cold coming on!

Moving and Shaking

A couple of new videos for those who don't get to be around Jackson in person.

This morning Jackson enjoyed creeping across the floor to the radiator and banging his back against it.

This evening, he enjoyed playing his new drum, using it to play peek-a-boo, and swivelling and crawling backwards.

Funny guy!

Park Life

We've had an unprecedented week of warm temperatures and sunshine! We've all been soaking it up as much as possible.

We've spent a bit of time in the Pavilion Gardens. We all had a picnic there on Sunday.

Aftewards, Jackson had some chocolate ice cream then headbanged to a teenage emo band singing about anarchy as part of the Festival's free outdoor street events.

On Tuesday, Jackson had an al fresco lunch with Mama and a friend, then Daddy joined Mama and Jackson for some relaxing on the grass in the Pavillion Gardens.

On Thursday, Mama and Jackson spent the afternoon in Queen's Park, near our house.

Here's very blurry video of the event:

Finally, Jackson got to go on the swings for the first time! FUN!!

Jackson At 9 Months

Jackson is nine months old today!

He loves reading and clambers into Mama's lap when he'd like a book to be read. Once he even handed her a book, then climbed into her lap! His favourite books at the moment are Peek-a-boo, The Kitten Book, The Farm Book, The Zoo Book, Ten Little Caterpillars, and Eye to Eye. He seems to love picture books with facts or games, but isn't so into story books just yet.

Jackson loves music and dancing! He is thrilled when he makes the windchimes on the patio ring, and he loves to use the upturned rubbish bin in the bathroom as a drum when he's in his doorway bouncer. Last month he learned how to clap, and he has favourite songs he claps to such as "Patty Cake." Mama has ordered him some musical instruments such as a xlophone (like the one he loved playing at Granma's recently) and a rainmaker. He loves to dance with Mama and Daddy, and bobs his head up and down and claps when music starts. We try to fit in a group dance session just before bath-and-bedtime.

On May Day last week, Mama and Jackson ran into some Morris dancers in town. Jackson loved it! He especially liked when the audience clapped at the end of their dances. He loved to clap along too! Clapping and waving at people and animals are his special skills at the moment, and he like to show them off to anyone who notices him when we're out and about.

Jackson loves his rubber bath duck and having a bath. He also loves his stacking rings and cups, and rolling his activity ball back and forth with Mama. And he loves his cat Piper.

He still isn't crawling, but he can scoot and creep where he want to go. And he loves to pull up and stand.

He still loves swimming, and is in rapture when we go to the pool. He has just started really kicking as Mama and Daddy propel him through the water, and he is great at going under water. He also loves showers, as well as his nightly baths.

Jackson likes all kinds of food. Last month he got into exotic food such as lotus paste buns, houmous and baba ganoush. Right now one of his favourite foods is chicken. He's started to eat a few finger foods, such as banana and pizza crusts, and we're working our way through a mango at the moment.

When he has bottles, he like to hold them himself. He likes to drink from a beaker (with assistance), but isn't so keen using "sippy cups" with handles by himself (though he mastered using them around 6 months--he's just not too into drinking fluids). He has, however, given up the dummies; he just lost interest a few weeks ago, so we put them all away.

Jackson has been sleeping through the night in his own room for about a month now. He usually sleeps from around 7:45 till about 7 - 7:30 the next morning.

Happy birthday, Jackson!
