We are posting this from an airport lounge in Singapore, on our way to Australia. We've had a great stopover here, and Jackson got to do lots of swimming, both in the hotel pool and the ocean! Photos coming soon.

Eating Food: Solid Gold!
Jackson has been eating solids since around 5 months of age. He started while in the US with Noname and Grandaddy.
He started by tasting soft food in a net feeder. He loved the taste of bananas and avocados.
Later, we tried a little rice cereal, and then some single food purees such as applesauce, peas, pears and prunes.
Now, Jackson eats three meals a day, and sometimes an afternoon snack of yogurt. Noname and Grandaddy taught him how to smack his lips when he's hungry.
Lately, I've been showing him how to drink from a cup. Sometimes he does it all by himself!
At lunch today he tried a soft baby rusk for the first time. It was mostly a success--he knew how to chew, and seemed to love it a lot.

Addendum: at supper tonight, Jackson decided he wanted to feed himself!

Raspberries
Jackson has conjunctivitis in both eyes. We are treating it with drops, but he has to stay home from nursery. Here he is in happier times, experimenting with mouth noises.

Mother's Day Craft
Last Wednesday (Jackson's last nursery day for the week), he came home with a surprise for his Mama for "Mothering Sunday."

Jackson at 7 Months
Jackson is 7 months old today. He weighs 18-20lbs (we'll weight him next week) and has just cut his first tooth (his bottom front left one).He seems to know his name, loves Piper and all cats, and is starting to recognise dogs.
Jackson has mastered sitting up but isn't so keen on crawling; he prefers standing and holding on, or standing and bouncing.
He says "ma ma ma" (when he wants something) and "ba ba ba" (when he's playing and thinking) and sometimes "da da da" (when he's really working on his speech).
Jackson loves Ella's Organic puree pouches and Mama's homemade pureed carrots, mangoes and banana "pudding." He isn't so keen on plain courgette. And he HATES the pasty food that tends to come in jars here in the UK. He has good taste.
He is learning to drink from a cup, and will hopefully have mastered this by April or May, when he can be weaned off Mama and off some bottles.
Jackson is also learning some sign language. Right now we are working on "milk," "eat," "bath," "sleep," "cat," "dog," and "more." He already does his own sign for eating/hungry (smacking his lips), which he learned from his grandparents in the US when he started solids.
By the end of this month, he will have visited Australia, Dubai, Singapore, and three states of the USA, and travelled on three airlines. Not bad for someone under 1!
