Tuscany Lavender

Mama and Daddy are super-busy this week, so here is a little video to give you a taste of our time in Tuscany until we get around to a longer post. Sit back and enjoy watching lavender, bees, and Jackson flopping around on the grass surrounded by olive trees.

Starting to "Walk"

Yesterday Mama stopped by the St Martlett's Hospice charity shop, which always has great used baby items, and found some blocks and a push-walker toy for Jackson.

Jackson can pull up to stand on just about anything (including Mama and Daddy's legs, the rocking chair, the front door) these days, and he's having a great time working out how to pull up on something that rolls.

Yesterday he managed to not only pull himself up, but to walk a good 4 or 5 steps! Hopefully we'll get some video soon.

Fun at the Playground

Our friends Ruth and Jack are down from London to visit our pal Chris. Jackson and Mama met them all on the playground on the beach near our house.

Jackson and Jack had fun, and it was Jack's 18 month birthday!

South of England Show

On Saturday, Daddy took Jackson to the South of England Show, while Mama worked on her thesis all day. The show is a big agricultural show, with livestock animals, demonstrations, and lots of nice produce and food made in the country.

Daddy and Jackson saw lots of animals, such as pigs and ducklings.

They watched some show-jumping, too. Jackson liked waving at these little girls on horses every time they rode by.

They had a great time, and on the way home they stopped off in a village where there was a cricket match going on, and then they got the week's groceries in Lewes.

10 Months Old!

Jackson is 10 months old today!

He weighs 9.44 kgs, or 20.13 lbs.

Last week he started properly crawling, so he can really get around now. He loves to follow Piper and Mama and Daddy around. He also still loves to pull up to stand.

Jackson can really communicate with his voice now. He has different sounds to let us know when he wants more of something, when he has a question, when he wants us to pick something up or hand him something, etc. He still says "Mama" and "Daddy," and seems to at least know that Daddy is "Daddy." (He tends to whine "Mama" when he is upset and needs attention.)

He is also starting to understand the words "no" and "gentle" and the signs for "milk," "nappy," "more," and "all gone."

Jackson's big thing at the moment is shaking his head "no" when he doesn't want something. He also like to show you things he's holding; he's starting to get the concept of sharing.

He's also a lot cuddlier, and likes to scramble over to get hugs and kisses (though this often turns into biting and hair-pulling, which he thinks is hilarious and where learning the words "no" and "gentle" come in).

Jackson has almost 6 teeth! He has the bottom two, which came in first, and now the top front two, not to mention the ones next to each of them breaking through.

This month he has tried lots of new foods, including roast pork and beef, Peking duck and wild boar, and rice with ginger and lemon sauce.

Today it's sunny out so Mama and Jackson are going to have a picnic in the park.

Mine's a Pint

On Saturday we ate Daddy's homemade pizza and watched Dr. Who together. And Jackson drank lots of water!

A Summer Parcel from the USA

On Friday Jackson received a special parcel from Noname and Grandaddy! It contained a card, some cool summer clothes, a great book about a cat, and a toy for Piper.

It also contained some soft leather sandals that Jackson enjoyed trying on.

Thank you, Grandaddy and Noname!
